What I Like to talk About
I like to speak about all aspects of emerging and disruptive technologies that include robotics, 3D printing (also known as additive manufacturing), nanotechnology, bionics (artificial limbs and organs), cybersecurity, medical topics (such as aging, health and nutrition), drones, electric and self-driving vehicles and the Internet of Things.
I am a recognized futurist, technology consultant, author and nationally top-ranked speaker in the area of emerging technologies. I received my B.A.(biology), M.S. (insect physiology) and Ph.D. (Immunology and transplantation genetics) degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Cancer Research in Philadelphia I joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a researcher and eventually rose to become Deputy Director of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. I am a member of the Board of Ethics of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and on the Audit Committee of the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences.
My professional affiliations include the: American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association of Immunologists, American Chemical Society, American Society for Cell Biology, Society for In Vitro Biology, Transplantation Society, National Speakers Association and the Global Speakers Federation.
When not working I enjoy theater, cooking, swimming and singing baritone in a community choir.
