Event Overview:
The American Bar Association will host more than 5,000 attendees for the 2018 American Bar Association Annual Meeting August 1 through August 7 in Chicago. Attracting the best and brightest in the legal profession, the ABA Annual Meeting highlights the impact of legal professionals in all categories. The meeting features expert speakers, cutting-edge continuing legal education (CLE) programs, and exciting networking events.
Key events at the 2018 Annual Meeting
General Assembly:. The General Assembly will include the presentation of the ABA Medal Award Recipient and entertainment form the Chicago Mass choir and the Chicago Bar Association’s Barristers Big Band.
CLE in the City Series: Experience Chicago’s vibrant legal community first hand with eight specialty tracks including Cybersecurity Law, Ethics, Legal Writing, Ethics & Persuasion, Litigation, Family Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Gaming, Sweepstakes & Franchise Law, and Privacy & Security. In its second year, CLE in the City Series gives attendees the opportunity to network with Chicago- area law professionals from several organizations.
CLE Showcase Programs: Topics include free speech, cybersecurity, President Trump, and the #MeToo movement. Programs will be available Friday August from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 4 from 1 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Concert for the Legal Services Corporation-It Is Only Fair 2: On August 3 in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency, we bring back the success of last years concert in New York. The concert will include noted Broadway, cabaret, and other entertainers doing a song or performance interspersed with speakers and clients who will tell inspiring stories about the difference the LSC has mad in their lives.
President’s Reception: Enjoy the sound of the Chicago Catz with a blues singer, improv theatre, cabaret performances, and local food favorites. Don’t miss an evening of fun under the world’s largest stained glass Tiffany dome.
