Purpose

The ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting will present both research and clinical topics that promote the science and the practice of clinical genetics and genomics. Sessions will focus on the latest discoveries of the etiology and the pathogenesis of genetic disorders, the latest developments in genetic testing and screening, the laboratory’s role in the diagnosis of genetic disorders, the treatment of genetic disorders in children and adults, the delivery of genetic services, and more.

Target Audience

  •  Medical and clinical geneticists; genetic counselors; pediatric, obstetric, and maternal-fetal specialists; and all medical practitioners who are providing comprehensive diagnostic, management, and counseling services for patients with, or at risk for, genetically influenced health problems
  • Laboratory directors and technicians who conduct genetic testing
  • Researchers involved in the discovery of genetic disorders and treatments
  • Medical students, undergraduate and graduate students of the biomedical sciences, and genetic counseling students. 
  • Healthcare and public health professionals who have an in interest in medical and clinical genetics and genomics, delivery of genetics services, or implementation of genomic medicine in the health care system. 

About ACMG:

Founded in 1991, the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics advances the practice of medical genetics and genomics by providing education, resources and a voice for more than 1,600 biochemical, clinical, cytogenetic, medical and molecular geneticists, genetic counselors and other healthcare professionals committed to the practice of medical genetics. ACMG’s activities include the development of laboratory and practice standards and guidelines, advocating for quality genetic services in healthcare and in public health, and promoting the development of methods to diagnose, treat and prevent genetic disease. Genetics In Medicine, published monthly, is the official ACMG peer-reviewed journal. ACMG’s website (www.acmg.net) offers a variety of resources including Policy Statements, Practice Guidelines, Educational Resources, and a Find a Geneticist tool. The educational and public health programs of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics are dependent upon charitable gifts from corporations, foundations, and individuals.
